I won't say it "sucks" because it wouldn't be fair. I will say it needs improvement and:

  1. I personally don't like it as it is.
  2. It does not reflect the intentions of the website or idea behind the website overall.
  3. Do some research on choosing proper typography.
  4. Do some research on choosing proper color combinations (and try kuler.com)
  5. If you just can't nail it, ask a designer to do it for you.
  6. Do several mockups that are entirely different one from the other (not just three versions of the same thing with different colors), and choose from the style that you like the most.

Hope it helps :)

Maybe you could make it better. But I have seen much worse. I will say that maybe a different color. It just looks out of place the way it is. I will see if I can come up with something like it and see if you like it.

It's not stupid- it's just a bit simple. But simple isn't bad for a logo. Maybe some time in GIMP would be good for it, but it's perfectly fine. If you're really concerned, try this (I whipped it up quickly in GIMP, this is just to give you an idea): alt text

Not bad, Might put some lines on so people reference it like the MW logo :)

Text Logos are pretty hard. Ideally you need to mock up a logo. I.e Lockergnome uses LG or the drawn face logo.

After a while you remember gimp not as someone clad in black leather, but as a dog with a paint brush in its mouth.

But skype uses a pretty simple logo with the S in a cirlce and drop box is just a box.

the best ones are often the simplest.

It does not suck at all. A few tips though. Try to stay away from logos which look like other logo's (i.e Modern Warfare). This is because you don't want to get anywhere near copyright issues and also it seems unprofessional. Secondly its very bright and doesn't look quite right against that plain white background. You are on to something good though. I would suggest you play around with colour a bit more, maybe don't have so much glow on it and have a smaller border before the glow. Just an idea of course. Let us know what you come up with.

It doesn't suck. Though the green is kinda hard to read and not too elegant but it's fine.
