YouTube Earth Hour Switch

Hey. This is to make you aware of the switch. What do you think of it? Do you want it to stay for ever?

I think it's a great idea, everyone doing a piece of the puzzle. Alone it doesn't work, but if everyone cooperates we can really do something. Lets all turn of the background in youtube for the day (except earth hour), or as long as it stays maybe.

PS: The switch is not on the front page, its right below YOUTUBE if you watch a video.

The idea is to turn your electronics off. So you shouldn't even be on Youtube at the time.

I think that earth hour is a interesting concept. Last year I forgot that it was happening and watched TV right through it.

Its not to never electricity ever again. Its because the Black background uses less electricity.

On a CRT screen it does a good amount, but in a LCD screen it does little to nothing since the backlit is a constant light and a crt blasts the color and brightness.

You can use a electricity monitor tool and find out for yourself

i think the switch is Ironic.

because!

youtube has the light switch to switch off the lights to save power, but by switching the switch, you change the background from White, which uses less energy on a LCD monitor, to black, which uses the most power to produce the colour.
