netbooks?

i need a new on the go computer the drive controller on my ancient dell latitude c810 went bad are those $250 acer mini's any good i was thinking of buying one and upgrading the ram to 2gb and once again this is a secondary computer so it dosen't have to have the newest processor and the largest hdd

I have two Acers. They perform as would be expected of a small machine with Windows 7 Starter edition. You don't have a lot of options with the OS itself but as far as surfing the web, writing papers, doing spreadsheets, etc. it's good. Just a smaller screen. Portablility, it's very lightweight and takes up very little space in a bag.
