(Been a bloody long time since you seen me hasn't it?) Well I've always come here for my computer questions and today I think I made a huge mistake! Purchased a custom computer from HP the HPE-510 Series to be exact. Here are my specs!

* • Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 quad-core processor with Turbo-Boost [up to 3.8GHz, 8MB cache]
* • 6GB DDR3-1333MHz SDRAM [3 DIMMs]
* • 1TB RAID 0 (2 x 500GB SATA HDDs) - performance
* • 1GB DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce 405 [DVI, HDMI, VGA adapter]
* • LightScribe 16X max. DVD+/-R/RW SuperMulti drive
* • Blu-ray player & Lightscribe SuperMulti DVD burner
* • Integrated Ethernet port, No wireless LAN
* • 15-in-1 memory card reader, 1 USB, audio
* • Beats Audio (tm) -- integrated studio quality sound

The total with tax was $762.11 :) Any comments? Or the first bottle neck you see?

How do you think the performance will be?

Hey how do you write your stuff that way?

@Yogi use CTRL+U in the editor and just add stars in front of the dots.

Well, it's an older graphics card and you could have bought faster ram, but other than that it's a great deal for only 762 bones.

Haha thanks for some reassurance, any graphics card you recommend? I know HP website won't offer anything nice.

well you'd have to tell me about your motherboard, case size and power supply

I would have to agree with Zlpha, that though the GPU has been out for a good while now, the rest of the package, could make out for a nice machine, depending on what you're using it for.

I would have put in the wireless ethernet, too, but otherwise a good deal for the money. I don't think you were ripped off considering the 1 TB RAID, 6 GB RAM and blu-ray. Nice processor choice, I think that one goes for around $200 by itself.

For $750, you've not been ripped off.

I would be happy with this for about that price, but would spend a little more on a decent GPU.

Would have spent a little more and gone for a 2TB raid.

overall, you're fine.

For $750, I wouldn't complain.. I do suggest a GPU upgrade in the future though.

I've no experience in building computers... No idea how to do it :)

I agree with everyone else. It can always be better. But for $726, I'd buy that computer. Should last you a while. Besides, you can always upgrade individual parts in the future. Good buy though.

Weren't you the one who helped me pick this computer months ago on an old question? :D

Yep. :) Glad you got your new computer! How do you like using it?

Bhwaha I only just ordered it! HP is gonna make me wait a month and shipping for it, while we're on he subject what do you think of a 24 inch HD monitor for $160? ;)

(Apr 07 '11 at 22:22) Yuma Yuma's gravatar image

I think that's a good deal. I paid about $200 for each of my 23 inch HP HD monitors. I'd say go for it!
