Will my XLR microphone actually work with my PC with this?

http://bestofferbuy.com/Driver-Free-USB-Male-to-XLR-Female-Microphone-Cable-(3M-Length)-p-63524.html?currency=USD&utm_source=gbase&utm_medium=cse&utm_campaign=gbase

It's just hard to believe I can use it with just that and no extra power source.

Thanks

Matthew, what microphone are you using? Some need a 48v power supply (commonly referred to as "phantom power") and some do not. If your existing mic needs 48v power, then I can guarantee the USB adapter will NOT work. USB 2.0 ports only supply 5v at 500mA. This will NOT work with a mic needing 48v power.

If the mic doesn't need power at all, you should be in the clear, but seeing as though it's USB, I'd be a little leery of electrical current "noise" in the line occasionally. Remember, you're using a microphone to record audio...that microphone is also being fed through a direct power "output" at that point. You may get a 60Hz (or "60-cycle") buzz once in a while.

Hope this helps!
