If a movie has people using a computer in it why is it always a Mac?

They aren't, you just notice them more because they all look similar.

I see a lot of generic hardware stamped with a Windows logo on CBS shows like NCIS and CSI. I've seen this with oddly generic laptops and monitors with a strangely obvious windows logo on the back.

If you ask me I think it's because the promotion people that work for Apple are working a lot harder arranging product placement deals in movies and TV. You don't think the cars in tv shows are on by happy accident, do you? Oh, no. Or when the entire staff of NCIS is using iPhones or when the entire staff of Hawaii Five-O was using Windows Phones the very week they were released to the public? Happy accident there too? In fact I think the slick red car Kono drives in that show occasionally has accompanying commercials during the show.

Basically, if a product logo is ever visible in a show or movie, it's there because someone paid a lot of money to get it there.

I would think it's because of the simple branding... I doubt they would use a PC with an elaborate logo/color scheme (not really elaborate, but whatever) in a movie. I'm sure they have to pay royalties to use products in a movie, so instead of having to pay the computer manufacture for the hardware and Microsoft for the software (Windows), they can just pay Apple for the hardware and OS X. Now, this is my best guess and I'm not sure if I'm even close to correct.

If I had to guess it would simply be because the general public when thinking of a computer they things there is HP,then Dell, and on top Apple. Not to be hypocritical to Pcs as I use one myself, but usually the best off the shelf computer is an Apple computer.

They use it, because it simply looks better. I know a lot of people that don't know much about computers that buy a Mac just because it looks better than most of the competition.

They are more aesthetically pleasing. No one wants to look at a box of plastic.

Decent apple devices are more expensive in the market, so maybe it's just to show the richness.

Apple has a high product placement profile because they look really cool and the company has worked with Hollywood for a long time.
