It really is more the maturity level of the person than the age. There are 18 year olds that should not have Facebook pages and such and there are several 12 year olds that are mature enough to know what to say and not to say on a site. So I see it as every person is different and depending on their maturity level would be when to allow them to use the sites listed above.

If the child is ready and mature enough to join a social network, let them.

Don't sit over them and watch every mouse click.

Let them grow up and have responsibilities.

I agree. Be there friend on the social network and help teach them what to put up and what to not. I play games with my mom all the time on Facebook :p

What? Most of the ruckus I've seen around FB are from people who are under 18. Besides, these sites are for people who actually know each other, and I'm seeing a lot of people who just add whoever they see next in their "People you may know" list.

Did you guys know that because of the latter, pedophiles find it easy to "follow" their victims?

Sure, most of you won't agree with my opinion but it's something worth thinking about in the long run.
