What Would You Do if Apple Bought Microsoft and Vice Versa

Okay I know this will never happen but let's imagine it for a second. What would you do if you heard that Apple bought MS for like 100 billion or something? The OSs would still stay seperate but they would be worked on by both companies. (MS Would help with 10.7 and Apple would help with 8). I would be glad even if MS had bought apple. It would mean a better OS for both Windows and Mac users. What about you?

What would I do?

I would think back to 1997, when Apple were 60 days from going bust, and Microsoft bought non-voting shares for 150 million dollars in Apple to save them from going bust!! Back then Apple shares could be bought for a few dollars!

What a turn around, in what really is only a few years :)

What I haven't been able to find out however is when did Microsoft sell the shares? They had to keep them for at least 3 years as the agreement stated, but did they sell them just before or just after the iPod launch? Anyone know?

Well if Apple bought Microsoft, Microsoft products would probably increase in price and in quality. If Microsoft bought Apple, Apples prices would probably decrease, but their products not change much unless they get a new crew working on Apple products. Either way though different product would change in terms of quality and pricing.

Why would the price increase? If anything Windows would drop to just a couple versions ranging from $25-$70.

Apple doesn't know shit about consoles so they can't really help much there. Microsoft has what beyond that? A couple mice and a few keyboards?

I think it would be a sad day for the consumer.

If one bought the other, neither would have a decent competitor (OK linux, but really, your not real competition.) This would in turn mean that inovation would slow, as the 2 companies are not trying to 'out do' each other.

Sad, sad day for the consumer. :(
