I want to start a blog for spreading awareness about FOSS. Should I use wordpress which itself an awesome open source cms or should I use Google's Blogger ?? Which one is better for basic interaction and too many external badges, and widgets. |

I Prefer Wordpress over Blogger. Although Blogger is simple, I believe it is too simple and not appealing. Wordpress has many customization you can do or get. |

I like blogger, it does the job. Simple and probably what you are looking for. |
|
I prefer Wordpress Self Hosted solutions as we can customize it to any site as we wish and easy codding too! |

It's all based on preference on something like that. I've tried blogger and wordpress and they both have their good points and bad points. You just need to try them both out. I stuck with wordpress over here. Since it is highly configurable and you can do it and get it hosted directly with wordpress or did like I did test it out on a spare machine and see what you can do with it. It is all a matter of preferences on something like that. PLus the good thing as well. You can use something like Windows live writer and write through there and post it directly to your blog. You'll be surprised as well there are some live editors in linux as well you can di it from there as well. |

Wordpress is a lot better because of compatibility but i find that wordpress.com is experiencing difficulties at the moment. Might just be me. |

Blogger is much simpler to set up, and if you're not into CSS and stuff, it can give great looking themes that are easy to create. Wordpress themes are much less changeable without going into complicated CSS. Both are pretty much equal in terms of plugins (Wordpress.com, the hosted version), but if you host Wordpress yourself you can get an amazing array of plugins that simply aren't available on Blogger. The biggest advantage of Wordpress is that it's much more expandable. You can start with a basic free Wordpress.com account, and then if you find it growing, you can quite easily expand to a self-hosted Wordpress.org account with little difficulty. |
|
It is what you are more commutable with. I prefer WordPress as I find Blogger's interface a bit slow and confusing. The fact that you can run WordPress from your own server or web host account adds to the cram of Wordpress over Blogger as Google can go down. |

I use WordPress. I personally think that it has just a lot more functionality and can get more complex than Blogger. Also WordPress has an iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad application for FREE . They may have some for other devices as well. WordPress also can get as simple or as complex as you would like it to be. |

I prefer WordPress. I haven't used Blogger in years but back when I did, every time you made a change to the interface it had to re-generate every page. I don't know if it still works that way. WordPress is much more elegant, being php database driven. Also, you have the choice of a WordPress.com blog or installing it on your own host. |

@TheTechDude,So what if it is duplicate? Maybe this person didn't see the other one.
@Jameel Alayyan: Your attitude lately has not been good. The purpose is that the question is wasting the communities time. You know how many times the question "What is the best anti-virus?" has been asked? If every time it is asked I had to answer it again it wastes the communities time answer question that already have answers on another question. Also, because it says in the rules " Before you ask [a question] - please make sure to search for a similar question".
