Hi, recently I started burning some of my DVD's onto my Mac using the program HandBrake. I am fairly new to using this program and have so far only processed 3 films. They have been all successful however now when I have come to trying a few different films using the same process of choosing a preset from the list and clicking start, it processes the video which takes AGES!!! then doesn't seem to finished them correctly. The file is .M4v which the other successful films are but they won't open in iTunes VLE or Quicktime. I cannot understand what has changed, usually for the icon I can see a screenshot of the film however these files are blank and have the itunes logo on them with mpeg 4 underneath. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank You. |

I've ripped around 200 DVDs with Handbrake. The only things that have given me problems are scratched discs. But I'm not sure that's the problem here. Are you making sure you have the correct title selected? Also before you hit Start, hit Preview Window to make sure it looks fine and confirm that it's the correct title. Other than that, maybe try a different preset. I always use Apple TV 2 because I watch them on my Apple TV, but before the last Handbrake update I used Normal and that worked well too. If you still can't get it to rip right, maybe it's just the disc encryption, although I've never had a problem with that. And oh yeah when you name the file make sure you keep the .m4v in there. |

All DvDs are not made equal. Some have different encryption and DRM schemes that can make them near impossible to rip on certain systems. |
