Maybe Apple and Google are not doing a bad thing by doing this. Maybe they were storing information so a child for example can be tracked using parental controls.

Google is a essentially just a data collection agency.

So while I'm shocked by this, I'm not really surprised considering each google search is recorded in real time and displayed on a map in real time at their offices.

They should have been up-front about it, but it does not seem that 'bad'.

Not to be a conspiracy theorist but I'd bet any money that they do this so that cops can see exactly where you were if your phone gets submitted for evidence.

Or they're just trying to figure out where they should focus on improving quality. But that wouldn't be sinister enough.

Yeah I did hear about this. Fortunately there is an app each for a jailbroken iPhone and for a rooted Android to delete the data.

Even more fortunate is that I use neither.
