So I have a Sony Handycam Camcorder that uses DVD-RW discs. I have a lot of video stored on many of these discs from a holiday in Florida and really want to get them on my Computer. When I insert the disc into my PC, the disc is recognized in Windows but says that there is nothing saved on the discs, when there clearly is as I can play them back through the camcorder. If anybody could please help me to get these videos onto my PC I would be extremely grateful. Thanks for your time.

Try different computers & dvd players, to rule out the dvd reader of your pc. If the discs play on other computers & dvd players, then you may need to upgrade. Another way is to play the discs from the video camera to the computer (recording) directly.

The camera is fairly old, it was purchased in 2006, and it doesn't have a PC connection, which is also why i can't imagine the dvd player in the PC being outdated because my PC is three months old.

I easily transfered old vhs tapes to my pc directly. There is a difference between DVD-RW & DVD+RW. Your PC's DVD reader may only read one or the other? Like I said before, try other DVD readers & players ...

PAL vs NTSC could be one thing. The rate that the cam recorder recorded the movies could be higher than the reading your DVD-RW can read. Just saying. Maybe the files are hidden? Check that off the list. Hope I helped.

Do you have any burning software? Could be the Upper and lower filters problem.
