Here in Canada, an unlocked phone will run on any network. But since you mentioned AT&T and Verizon, I guess you're in the US. AT&T network is GSM, which is what the original iPhone runs on. But if you want to use Verizon, you must have a CDMA iPhone, which was released recently.

U.S. Cellular is a CDMA network. So for it to have a chance of working you would have to buy the Verizon iPhone. i don't know if they operate on the same frequency though so I'm not sure if it will work. I would do some research or switch carriers.
