When I was really young I had a mouse mat but I soon stopped using them because they seemed to serve no purpose. Most mice these days work on the majority of surfaces and old mouses work on most too. Why the need for a mouse mat? I never felt it improved muse performance, speed or anything like that. What are your thoughts on this? |

I use a Gaming Mouse Mat, firstly because I won it from Zotac, and secondly because it feels more smoother when moving the mouse when playing games or doing general purposes. |

I totally agree, although there are a few surfaces that a mouse won't work on. Despite that though, they serve no real significant purpose. Although I must say, some look really cool, and have some nifty features:

It feels more comfortable to me to use a mousepad. |

Glass is a good reason to use a mouse pad, however, there are "mice" that now track on glass. It's mainly a comfort issue for most. Scratching of a desk or other surface really should not be an issue if the glides on your mouse are in good shape. There are exceptions that I can think of and one would be if your desk or surface is a very expensive table or desk and you don't want that glossy finish marred in any way. For most standard desks or work surfaces this is not an issue. |

Most mice dont need one. A lot of the new darkfield mice work on mirrors (I have tried it with mine) I dont know who works on a mirror but. I use one because it feels better especially when I'm doing a lot of video editing |
