With all the data kept on computers these days do you think there will be a day when we will phase out CDs (That means Compact Disk if my my great grand children are reading this ;)

The same thing will happen to CDs as what happened to floppy disks. There will be a better medium, and eventually people will stop using the old one. I predict that Blu-ray disks are the next thing.

Personally I think so. I think it would be replaced by MP3. But remember I can't predict the future.

Yes, I think optical disk storage as a whole will phase out in the future. You will likely buy some form of un-rewritable flash storage for software in the future. Unless ofcourse we skip that completely and go right to global internet distribution of software and data for everything. However, the I think its more likely that flash memory devices will replace optical disk storage in the future.

I think so, but also not, I think for many years they will be in limbo, but at some point they will go, just like the Floppy disc...
