Final Cut Pro. The current version is better than Premiere and the new Final Cut Pro X will blow Premiere and Avid out of the water. I do not consider Premiere to be a professional piece of software. Although in many ways it is similar to the current Final Cut Pro is falls short. I would place it as pro-sumer. But its much better than the awfully childish Sony Vegas.

Personally, I love Premiere Pro because I love the interface and the program as a whole. I also love its interaction with After Effects, the fact that you don't have to render out to add effects and render back again. I also like Avid but still prefer Premiere.

I personally use The CS5 Production Suite. The new mercury engine really brings it up to par. Some of the new movies are using Premiere Pro now. I've used both and I still don't care for editing on FCP.

I have been using FCP for years and I'd never consider going to Premiere. The only other software I'd love to try is Avid. On a profesional level important things would be : 'What codecs are available?', 'Speed of rendering', etc. On a pro-sumer or amateur level it doesn't really matter in my opinion. It's just comes down to personal preference.

Premiere Pro!! It has been made to make several famous hollywood movies. Examples are Avatar. It is just a much easier to use tool than Final cut. Also I personally think that it can do more and can do more complex things.
