We have 3 computers on one Belkin router, all the other two is working, but the one that runs XP Professional - internet connection on the wire is going on and off every two seconds.

It is like a 25m cable, and have replace it - worked for some while, but back at the same problem.

Could it be the operating system or the network card.

The XP have one admin and 8 other users that are limited.

I would suggest buying a new network card. You can pick one up at the store for under $30. If you replaced the cable and it still doesn't work, then it is either your card or the Belkin router, most likely the card. Have you tried plugging the computer to a different port on the router? If so, does the problem still arise?

It is Farly a new router that is being used - I also think it must be the network card, but I am not sure - I also wonder if it can be the users that is limited with there accounts, but it can't be.

Limiting user accounts wouldn't make any difference, they're still able to have Internet access. If you've replaced the LAN cable and the router if fairly new then your best bet is to replace the network card.

Try using a different port on your router for that computer so if it is in number 3 then move it to 4 and see if that helps. Or maybe see if there is a new network card driver for your current one. Otherwise I would recommend buying a new network card for the computer.
