Well for me I would have to say that Mac OS is just there. When I use windows 7 I feel like I have control over the operating system, when I use my Macbook, it feels like I am using a limited un-customizable OS.

This is just my opinion, but what do you think?

Which mac fanboy downvoted? That's rude. It's a fine question. Were you also the one who upvoted the win version of this? Show yourself!

@ryebread761: You are exactly right. They downvoted this question and upvoted the Windows one. They do know that everyone can see the karma history....

I down-voted this one just because 'Mac OS is just there' is not a bad thing about Mac. You don't HAVE to use it. I voted up the windows one because it said the reason the UAC which is a proper reason for disliking it and also I was going to create the question myself.

UAC can be disabled.

Yes it can. It's still something which many dislike. It is also a 'feature'. An OS existing is not a 'feature'.

The Mac OS is the best I have used. You are just another one of those people who are hating for no good reason. All OS's have good and bad points. You have clearly shown that one of the bad points about Windows 7 its some of its users. I use Mac OSX, Windows 7 and Linux (various distributions) daily. I can make an informed decision rather than just hating. You need to do a bit of research if you think Mac is 'un-customizable'. The only reason you say this is because you have likely never tried.

Also I am pretty sure you don't have a MacBook.

Yep im pretty sure I do have a Macbook the last time I checked

And it is called an opinion, I didn't say that I hated it, I was just pointing out something that I didn't like about it.

Try customizing the highlight color in windows, you can't.

Not being funny, but what actual usefulness does that possess? Id rather have an amazing operating system that looks ugly than a slow nasty operating system that look nice. (I am not comparing either OS to these analogies. This was just a grossly exaggerated example.)

  1. When closing the (last) window, the app still runs in the background. Annoying when you are used to the app closing with the (last) window.
  2. Available only on Apple hardware. Unless you want to get into legal troubles.
  3. Not as much apps available as on Windows.

  1. When you close the last window the application is still running.
  2. All applications, for the most part, use the same menu bar.

I would say the most annoying thing is you can't install it easily on non-apple computers.

I wouldn't say its something bad but I'm an eye candy kinda guy, not to say I choose looks over performance and stability but I do think that OS X is a little plain. There again I suppose this is why a lot of people like OS X - for its simplicity.

Despite this small "issue" I think OS X is a solid operating system.

...I don't really think I've run into anything that I find annoying. I was forced to use OS X AND Windows throughout my life so I just got used to things being different.
