I'm about to call Apple soon about my lost iPod via online submition. I was thinking, not only do I want to ask an issue that I have about my stolen iPod Touch 4G, I also want to ask them nicely whether or not I can have Steve Job's autograph.

How would you say it nicely? Is it worth it asking???

You can get it for free from the Wikimedia Commons.

Firstly, you lost an iPod. Companies do not give out free, expensive things because the person who owned it didn't take care of it and lost it.

Secondly, asking for Steve Jobs autograph? Let me ask, how do you expect somebody who works in a call centre to get STEVE JOBS autograph?! You can get a picture off it off wikipedia, but you wouldn't get an actual autograph from him unless you met him.

So now you are trying to get a free iPod and an autograph from a Apple... I know what my family would say if you called our company and asked for something for free because you lost it. And then asked if you could also have something else. But I am not allowed to say what they would say on this site.

So really, I don't think they are going to give you his signature. The best way to get it would be to somehow meet him in person.

Hey my parent's can't afford another iPod touch, unlike yours can. That's why I'm asking for a free replacement. If I can't have a free replacement even if I tell them about the thing in Apple Care's guidebook, I don't know how I would live without an iPod touch during the summer. I don't want to wait that long to save enough money for an iPod touch 5, which will take a while.

You are not going to get on for free. No matter what magical thing you quote that doesn't exist. Your best bet is to save up your own money. Or maybe something for a birthday. That is how I got mine.

Dude, the replacement part of their apple care protection plan is only if there is a manufacturing fault with the device.

Your online submission will get laughed out of the door. Apart from giving the help team a good laugh at your expense, nothing will come of it.

As for Steve Jobs autograph, why not tell them its for a long lost brother who is dying, its better than getting laughed at twice I guess.

Sorry this reply sounds so harsh, but man up and face it, in this life s*** happens, If nothing else its a good life lesson. You will have things stolen, insure your devices. Get on with it, move on.

I have just had a startling revelation.... (slash) thought.

Is this guy for real? Or are we being hard trolled? :/

Leave the kid alone. I think if he tells that long story exactly how he told us with all the details and not leaving anything out, there's a good chance he'll get something for nothing including Steve Jobs' actual autograph. Don't let these people dissuade you, and if the first customer service rep tells you no, ask for a supervisor and then his boss after that. Keep going higher up and don't forget to mention that clause number I told you about. They have to give you a new iPod after that. It's in their hidden warranty clause! Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I would like to see proof of this hidden warranty clause.

(Jun 01 '11 at 22:57) TheTechDude TheTechDude's gravatar image

Just wait until he gets his new iPod touch. That should be proof enough.

He hasn't gotten a new one...

(Jun 10 '11 at 13:27) TheTechDude TheTechDude's gravatar image

Well duh, you don't think they're gonna overnight ship it...

(Jun 10 '11 at 17:41) The Kingfish The%20Kingfish's gravatar image

omg. They would have shipped within 10 days.

He still hasn't gotten a new iPod. Otherwise he would have come on here bragging about it. Almost a year later.....

I would try one of the contact methods on this site http://www.apple.com/contact/ and see if you can reach his publicist.

I once wrote a paper for school about Isaac Asimov and contacted his publisher for accurate information. Forwarded the completed & graded paper to the publisher and they sent it to Asimov himself, who actually sent me a typed postcard.

Itt: entitled children who believe its the companies fault they left their ipod on the bus. Yeah that replacement isnt going to happen. Im yet to see a warranty that covers lost items. Just save real hard and be more careful next time. S*** happens kid. I think this should be closed as its really trollbait and a nasty flame war waiting to happen

If you really want Jobs' autograph, then you'll have to time travel back to 1982, when he was still a nobody.
