I need to create some sort of "system" for a store for controlling stock and prices and things like that. For example, I want something that can tell me how much percent have I earned each month and like an alarm for when stock is low and things like that. Also if it can be used with a bar code scanner. I was thinking of making a complex Excel spreadsheet, but what do you guys think? Is there any software that does this?

You're basically going to have to code a whole, almost operating system. I would look at some open source POS system, and see if you can edit it to do what you want. Free POS is a good, DOS based system. I would try playing around with that. It has a lot of the features you would want.

Gorgio, what you need is professional help, don't just take someones answer, seek a tech out and ask them to consult with you @ your business, pay them for their time and get the definite answers you want.
It's too hard for someone on these boards to understand what you need just by you typing a few sentences about your desires & needs in such complex subjects as business / accounting /& inventory control...
This is the best advice I can offer you because you are wanting very specific solutions to very specific problems, a good tech will be able to either direct you to the proper software, I love quick books myself, or make it directly for your business (not cheap)..
The problem with being a one man show in business is the problems you will face will constantly overwhelm you, without a team, you find that you MUST pay for professional help, and this is where it can get real expensive, real fast! Having smarter than you team members will help your business grow, remember if you are the smartest person on your team, you are in trouble!
Do you think software is overpriced? 6 Answers
