What computer brand is your favored one? Why? I am just curious. Do you use it for essentials, buisness or just a little over average? Why do you prefer the brand? |
|
I personally don't have a "favorite" brand. When I'm looking for a new computer I tend to initially ignore the brand and look for one with the spec I'm after. If I find one I'm looking for I'll then research the brand to see if their support, service, warranty cover etc is of a good standard - if so then I'll go ahead and buy it. However, one brand I have become quite fond of is Asus, they build great motherboards and the laptop I purchased from them is excellent. |

Apple Macintosh For The Win. Because its simple and detailed at the same time. |

Well, I am a current Mac user and don't regret it. However as I secondary computer I may consider a used PC or even a new base model ASUS or something. |

I like from HP the Tablet Pavilion Laptop, specially if you are an engineer, photographer or artist that likes to work on programs like paint or Photoshop. I prefer HP because is a brand I am familiar with and the variety of prices and models I can choose from, not to mention printers, etc. Although they have a horrible costumer service, the laptop's case are horrible and bad to open if not impossible, the fans are placed in a bad place, and they use a cheap ceramic for thermal paste and in excess not the little amount they need to put which doesn't allow the core to breathe. Besides that for the uses I give her it works very well, it runs Photoshop, AutoCAD, etc it works well for me since I am an engineering student and like to photoshop for a hobby it works well, just some minor things I hate. Sad part it used to run games but since it's impossible to clean the fans or clear that cheap ceramic and put some good thermal paste now it crashes when I put a game :( A brand I will reconsider using would be Lenovo I am interested in their Tablet Laptops, let's see what i'l do. For gaming I think I will make my own desktop, since I can make a computer w/ the same specs as a $3,000 alienware for just $800 and prob even better specs :) |

If you're looking for a Win vs Mac vs Linux war, I believe it's best to choose the software that's best for your application, then buy hardware that suits the OS you need to run. If your badly worded question is more generic, such as HP vs Dell vs Gateway vs Acer, etc., you have to remember that these various hardware companies generally buy the same components. You open them up and they are all using Radeon or IBM or nVidia video, they all use Intel or AMD processors, they all use hard disks by maybe four manufacturers. Usually they make their own motherboards, but the BIOS is occasionally consistent. I had a Lenovo desktop machine once that was super easy to take apart, but it had a 5 year old processor and crappy video. So it comes down to support, bloatware, warranties, things like that. Such policies within a company can even change over time - so like, HP might be good then change management and suddenly do cost-cutting. Or they might accidentally label refurbished equipment as new. Or you might not like that x company doesnt ship recovery cds. Whatever. In the end I think they are about the same. When it comes to laptops you might perfer a certain type of keyboard - I don't like the tiny toshiba keys, for example. HP has nice ones. |
