What programs will send encrypted instant messages (cross platform) on smartphones?

I'm looking for a way to send encrypted Ims to friends. We all have a variety of phones so I looking for something that supports several operating systems, android, blackberry etc..

To be more specific looking for something that would be end to end encryption such as Blackberry messenger.

0	Use the protocol XMPP! It supports SASL and TLS! There are many XMPP clients out there. You can start your own XMPP server or use one you trust. You can find libraries, clients and servers on the official website for XMPP. answered Jun 11 '11 at 10:12 Daverix 16●4
