Don't take this the wrong way, but if you want to fit in, don't be cocky. You may honestly know more about certain topics than your peers, but that doesn't mean you have to correct them every time. I guess what I am trying to say is if you truly are gifted and talented as you say, be proud of that fact but do not boast. Remember to be humble and learn humility. That can not be taught from a book. If you really want to fit in, just be yourself and don't think about your intelligence as a burden. Then again, what do I know. lol

Simple. Surround your self with equal or more intelligent people. Don't dumb yourself down to "fit in". Those people will only bring you down. You want to be around people who bring you up.

Totally agree, thats why i come to this site. I only really talk to people above my age (who have been through uni, either MIT, cambridge, etc or know a fair amount about pcs) because i don't enjoy the company of people who i can't talk to things that interest me.

I agree, environment is a large factor that may determine someone's intelligence. As humans, we do learn and innovate (or evolve) through social interaction and each one of us shapes this world in some way. I believe that intelligence is the collection and application of knowledge, which is I had stated that it is hard to define because even toddlers can collect and apply knowledge in their lives, but I guess their faculty of understanding is still low for people of such young ages.

"People in their right mind never take pride in their talents." I don't agree entirely with the quote, but swap out 'take pride in' for 'boast about' and I think it fits perfectly. Nobody likes being constantly corrected or having intelligence rubbed in their face.

I think intelligence can't be truly defined when you think about it. People are good at a multitude of things with respect to the individual, plus what is it that determines an intelligent action and makes the outcome of that action intelligent?
