Does Verizon FiOS have a data cap?

You lucky bastards... they don't service my area...

Nope they do not have a datacap, I use anywhere from 1-6TB of data on my home line and around 20TB on my business lines (x2) with the 150/150MBPS on the Business line and 150/50MBPS on the home line. Have not yet received a complaint from Verizon for using too much data and have not had any additional charges.. FiOS #FTW

Just for added assurance they do not have a data cap, I am on the 25/25 residential and use sometimes 5 gb down in one day. @Marcel Evans you sir are lucky to have those speeds, for business or not I am jealous put it to good use. :)

using 5 gb in a day is not a sure sign there is no cap :) there is no such thing as unlimited bandwidth no matter what service you are talking about its all limited if they claim no limit you will not geta complaint so long as you arent breakingthere TOS how ever it is all metered you can take take that to the bank ..

any how 5 gb in a day on a home service these day is nothing with everything thats is using wirless if you have a few kids in the house with game system wii xbox a few lap top DS I pod touch reader if you have two people on a movie binge watching net flix all day you can easily use from 80gb to 200gb in a dAY AND THAT'S IS JUST ONE DAY IN A MONTH ..

the trend in internet service providing is toward contract caps even for home users simply because of the load on there systems and the fact that nothing is unlimited , keep in mind we all use the same internet even the g3 and g4 so called cellular is all using the same info pipeline ..

the fibre optic network can handle far more then back in the days of dail up , trouble is not everything is fibre and lot never will be many homes are as far as 10 miles away from fibre optic lines its all copper between them and that data stream then and all there neighbours all there cell phone there lap tops there x boxs there wii and I pads this hold true for DSL and cable ..

there would be many hours a day of network crashing and crumbling around the world if it wasnt throttled and controlled prioritized ...

here contract are 1 year to cancel is $250 , internet is set at 40gb a month $1.50 a GB over that paid in advance , they are kind the basndwidth used with the digtal phone is not counted against the monthly limits .. as I look around many place it seems to be becoming pretty much the standard and even at with these limits its throttled and trafic is prioritized monitored so if there is machines in the system clearly running bit torrents or home user running open port 80 web server and such they are throttled to a near stop during peak use and to complain they will tell you point blank read the contrat and TOS as to fair usage and sharing system with all some transaction are more important then others ..

this is one reason why in this error of cloud use , if when it comes to OS and programs the lighter the better if your still running bloat ware on your computer and running from the cloud the costs are going to burn you big time ..

store music and video specially video 70 hours of video storage will run roughly $1000 a year still isnt counting the cost for steaming to play the video being stored..the day is going to come when everyone has the extra computer and learns how to run a server for personal cloud ..

win8 nice for the touch pad or not still bloat ware big time , linux on the other hand different story whole system inluding browsers development software office suites music player you name it whole system fits in less then 5 gb of space just a 2gb of swap less then 5% of a total HD hard drive . I back the whole system up on cloud for complete restore in les then 5 gb of space windows 7 require nearly 50 GB just for the OS imaage , when ya need to start paying for cloud and bandwidth Roughly $1 to $1.50 GB which system you gonna want to be running :)

i know all are boosting that the cost of online storage over time have been dropping true some company s out there claiming to charge less then .25 cent a gb thing is these are loss leader companies thet been sitting out here waiting and have been losing money waiting fact is just like internet service taxes the price of a hot dog when have you ever know the price to really drop reality is once the demand is there as cheap as drive space is getting once demand goes up and limits are being pushed and they have all where they want them no one will be out to make less money and ask for cuts in pay this not so new industry that has ben out there starving is going to be looking for there share of the pay raises and $$ from the tech era ...

Now they are telling the Federal Communications Commission and Department of Justice to become more closely involved in reviewing a proposed anti-competitive marketing partnership between the phone company and some of the nation’s largest cable operators.

AT&T DSL Adopts 250GB Monthly Bandwidth Cap

AT&T will impose a 250GB data cap for users of its DSL service. The company says that, based on trials, it only expects that less than 2 percent of its users will be affected by the cap. If these people want to continue consuming more than 250GB per month they’ll have to pay for the privilege.

AT&T will sell additional bandwidth at 50GB increments for $10 a pop.

Up here in Canada like in the province of Quebec. The two major ISP's like Bell and Videotron have caps for the last couple of years. even on my current one which I have had for the last 12 years has a 50 gigabyte cap. I envy you guys in the States and else where who have unlimited bandwidth or close to that since I would love to be able to do that over here. I've learnt to monitor my bandwidth to make sure that I am way under the capping limit.
