Wouldn't it be nice if more software was cross platform.

haven't use BBM before so with that in mind I think it was a great thing for Apple to do for iOS customers, I would like to see the ability for it to be communicated with by iChat or a client on the Mac, I would say for PC also but I know that will never happen. I will be interested to see how well it works when iOS 5 is out.

I haven't used iMessage but from what I've seen it looks like it will work way better then BBM. Used to have it on my old Blackberry. The UI was terrible and there was a noticeable lag in usage.

It really depends on what your friends have, most of my friends have Blackberry and are starting to switch to iOS, I'll have to wait for them to switch D:

I don`t really see the point in either one...how is it different from just texting?

Well you can text from a iPod touch or iPad.

Yeah I know that but some people use it to text from iPhone to iPhone or BlackBerry to BlackBerry. I just want to know what the advantages of that are, or if there even are any?

I use I message on the daily bases but it all depends what platform your contacts are on.

BBM, really? Why on earth do people use Blackberries I have no idea. Small keyboard, small screens with less pixels than a GameBoy Pocket and an ugly OS. BBM looks ugly too.

For me it's iMessage hands down.

couldn't you consider GTalk the equivalent of iMessage and BBM on Android devices? It comes installed by default and everyone has a Google Account when you use your Android device...
