Hi I was wondering what my options are for this.

At first I thought the battery just died and I just needed a replacement.

the battery doesnt charge anymore. and when plugged in and still have the battery connected the laptop acts as if it is running on battery power. The tray iconindicates 62% charge. while I know it has no charge. When I remove the battery and run it when plugged in, it indicated no battery connected. but everything else still acts as if its running on battery power. Its still under warrenty so if need be I can take it into best buy, but I was hoping it might of been a software issue and a simple format/restore would work. I doubt it though.

the laptop is a sony vaio VPCF136FM/B

so if anyone could let me know what my options are it would be greatky appreciated. Thanks

Shawn.

Chances are you have a bad battery. The software just reads from the battery and If the battery has malfunctioned you won't get accurate results. I would just take it in. Especially since it won't cost you anything since you still have the warranty on it.

Well it does sound like your battery is dead. The battery will not last long if you don't care for it properly. Since its still under warranty it won't cost you anything to replace so that would be your best bet.
