windows 7, laptop, gateway when i am open up the search for wireless connections i would previously have 10-20 options, but yesterday i was connected to some random unsecure network to download something quickly, and didnt disconnect from it and walked out of range but since then i have been unable to connect to any wireless network. nothing at all shows up on the wireless network list even when i am sitting right next to my modem when i attempt to troubleshoot the computer the only thing that it ever gives me is to plug in an ethernet cable... -.-... kind of avoiding the idea of a wireless connection... would appreciate some help problem solved i just ended up trying to update the drivers... which gave me a perpetual bsod unless i booted into safe mode so i just rolled back my computer cause i didnt have much else for a choice at the moment HOWEVER i did try to disable my wifi using fn f2 (gateway laptop) and i got the exact same problem so, i am pretty sure that is what the problem was in the first place, thx ps: who the fuck puts the shortcut for sleep right next to the disable wifi... i was in a rush getting out of the car and putting it into sleep and i must have hit f2 not f3 cause i was closing the lid on my hand lol |

Also, since you're on a laptop make sure you haven't accidentally pressed the button that shuts off your wireless. It looks like a lil radio tower on most laptops. |

Plug the ethernet cable in to see of there is a driver update or to redownload the old driver to see if that works. |

On some laptops there is a dedicated WiFi button that will turn off access to the Internet. Have you checked out haven't accidentally pressed that? It could be on the side or front of the laptop or even one of the "F" keys paired with the FN key e.g FN+F12.
