It depends on your webhost. For me, I've been able to have http://www.mydomain.com/something.com/ as something.com, if you're using CPanel then you can buy a domain through Godaddy (or another registrar), set the DNS for your webhost and create an addon domain.

You'll need to tell the registrar of lol.com the DNS addresses of the hosting server of domain.com first (e.g. dns.hostingcompany.com) , then set a domain pointer in the admin panel of domain.com that tells it to point lol.com to domain.com/lol/
Be aware though, that the domain pointer feature is sometimes restricted to what hosting package you may have bought. If your hosting supports "multiple websites" then you can do it.
