I would say no. For one it is outside of their usual products which may not be a bad thing but should be taken into consideration. Also based on Apple's history of controlling a lot of their software and hardware I think it would be very complicated for them to develop. I do think that if they did come out with a game console it would probably be very different from anything we've seen (hopefully not another touch screen though). It also needs to be said that they would be facing a lot of competition from well established console makers and it will be difficult to covert very devoted fans.

Apple already have one. 2 actually. The iPhone and iPad are putting up quite a fight on the console market. Games like Street Fighter 4, Splinter Cell, etc have been coming up. The only thing it lacks is a 1st part developer.
