I recently got a pre-owned Xbox 360 (original) and there is some left-over glue on the front of the cd drive tray (the silver part) from where that had something taped on it.

Any recommendations on how to remove it?

Goo off or Goo Gone does the trick with residue from tape

I use Goo Gone, works great! Have it in my kitchen, takes tags off plates and household items.

Ugh. Nightmare.

I built a PC once and the case had a piece of the aluminum side that was removable. To protect the finish, the manufacturer had adhered a film to it to keep it from being scratched.

Unfortunately the glue on the film was, shall we say, stubborn. I tried all sorts of stuff to get the glue off, but in the end whatever I did damaged the finish. I complained to the company that sold me the case and they sent me a replacement part without the protective film.

So I guess my solution is be careful not to use anything that might damage the product you're removing tape residue from.

Nail polish remover, It will get any thing off. I have used it to remover super glue from the bottom of a laptop and marker pen from various surfaces.

I think acetate is what ruined the finish on my computer case.
