As many of you know Windows 8, also known as Windows Next, is been developed. Microsoft has spread the word that their new OS will use the cloud.
"We believe the cloud is the future and cloud will help accelerate Microsoft’s revenues and profit growth. With the announcement of Azure on Monday, we have completed our cloud offering, which means anything and everything that MS offers can be delivered over the cloud."-Rajan Anandan, MD of Microsoft India
What are your thoughts about this? Pros and Cons? would this work? Will Microsoft will be always stuck in this order: one good OS, bad OS, good OS, Bad OS.

I like the idea of cloud and at the same time I don't like it. It's easy and fast but I have never liked "Windows Live". For 2 reasons let me explain.
I have a Mac and use windows as a part time OS.
They need to relize other companies are there and make it easy for us to integrate services like Dropbox and Google Docs. All they seem to want people to use is a very hard to learn how to use and confusing social network called "windows live".

I don't think it will be entirely cloud based, there is just to many things that still can't be accomplished in the cloud. For example look at applications such as Photoshop, you can access a limited version online but for the full experience it needs to be installed locally.
I'm sure they will incorporate more cloud features into the operating system (My be access to your Sky Drive without third party applications. If Microsoft made the jump from a desktop OS to a completely Cloud based one a very high percentage of users would not upgrade as they won't have access to files stored on the cloud, this could include things like family videos that are to large to be kept on the cloud.

I Think Microsoft should make the cloud base OS as another ver. so people can choose w/e they want a cloud based OS or like the other versions. It means they could add to: Business, Professional, Ultimate, Starter, Home, Enterprise versions and now they could add Cloud. I think it would be more successful and that way those that don't want cloud are happy.

I doubt it will be a cloud-based OS, because many consumers couldn't live without local apps/storage. I do believe, however, that Microsoft will offer cloud alternatives to most of its local programs to appeal to a wider audience. I doubt that anything in the future would ever be fully cloud based, and I definitely wouldn't stand for that.

I can not work with a cloud based system. Too easy for Microsoft to spy on my system and force updates that mess up what I have worked hard and long to get working. Windows 7 is great but I refuse to use cloud based services. I need data here and now, not there and then.

If I may, I totally think Windows should switch over to a Unix based system! make it like Ubuntu one.... Windows live works good but lacks. NT systems is old, and buggy. Unix is fresh and new, Make the whole OS a part time Cloud. (you sync what you want to the internet folders, files etc.)
