with a lot of touch screen computers, the mouse could become extinct, would this happen? |
Doubt it. Touchscreens aren't new and they have been completely rejected in many markets...mind you, they might be "cool" to the average home user, but many others will stick with a mouse. |
Whilst I like the idea, it'd be kinda awkward having to lean across your desk to do it all the time, not to mention the amount of time you'd have to spend cleaning the screen! So for me, the mouse will still be around in five years. Give it a bit longer (say 10 years) and I think there's more potential for stuff like the (legal) kinect hack like the one that appeared on the lockergnome youtube channel the other day. That could really kick off if they can make it accurate enough and cheap enough (£5 mouse vs £100 kinect - for most people there wouldn't be any contest, the mouse would win every time!) |

I've been seeing some unique idess for touchpads. I don't think the mouse is dead, but I think we're going to see more things like keyboards with built-in touchpads. |
No. I would be sick of a touchscreen after a few minutes. |

A touch screen isn't always a good option, and touchpads aren't exactly accurate... So I think that the mouse will be around for a long time until we can control computers with our eyes. |
