Guys, this is the first time I ask a question here, but I'm sure you'll help me. In a couple of months I'll hopefully become a student of architecture and I need a laptop that can run PhotoShop, AutoCad, ArchiCad and other powerfull programs smoothly. Plus, it needs to be under the 1000$ pricetag, be compact (13-14 inches) and light (possibly without a DVD slot). Ok, so the only thing that I found beside the MacBook Air is an Acer TimelineX 3820T (here is the link: http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/model/LX.PTC02.194 ). So guys, do you have any suggestions? P.S. I apologies for any grammar errors. Thank's, in advance.

I believe something like this has a higher processor (and more cores). Also USB 3.0. And I believe better video ram. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7105753&SRCCODE=GOOGLEBASE&cm_mmc_o=VRqCjC7BBTkwCjCECjCE

Thanks, but that's too big. And if I had that money I would buy a MacBook.

It's 15 inches, but it's the epitome of perfection for laptops 1k and below for its specifications.

Edit: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834246151 <- this one has a better graphics card though, for 50 bucks less.

Too big, too heavy but thank you. I found some alternatives like the HP Palivion dm3 and dm4, Samsung QX410 and Q330, Asus U36SJ... Does anyone know if they are good at all?
