Is there any chance of NFC in iOS? Or is it true that Steve Jobs is waiting for blanket/ official standard ? And will there be any significant upgrades to iphone 5 apart from the new chip? Please let me know your thoughts.

Well, so far, iOS has been pretty late acquiring functions, that competitors had for years. (Multitasking, cut copy & paste, picture SMS, video recording, etc) So I highly doubt we'll see NFC in iOS anytime soon.
Nobody can be certain about the "iPhone 5" right now. The only thins we do know, is that it will have a dual core processor. (Well, most likely it will. the iPad 2 does, and many competitors do, so it would be the logical thing to do). Other than that, and probably a new antenna design, nobody knows, or will know...Unless someone leaves one in a bar.
