Currently it is in beta (a reason why it is optional switch). I bet they will add more and work out the kinks.

If you don't like the beta, you don't have to use it

i liked the look and all. But i feel that they should have Added more features to Channel Customization. The Four themes are pretty similar except the Blogging one. Maybe they will add new features in the future as you said.
