If some how you were shot in to outer space, would you be able to hear sound before you die?

Note: If you are shot in to outer space be sure to curl up in to a ball & release all the air from your lungs. You could last a few more seconds to be saved. :)

Space is a vacuum. Meaning that it is devoid of matter and so it lacks a medium for vibrations to travel through. This means that the vibrations will not reach your eardrum and so you will hear nothing.

If you are shot into outer space you get ripped apart since there is no air presure.

And, no, you are not able to hear in outer space since there is nothing to transmit sound waves thrue.

in outer space you'd get ripped apart? Come on. that wouldn't happen. You would be frozen in a few minutes, burn up if you were in sun light.

Where the hell do you think they make space suits for? All the air of the planet is currently pushing on your body and your blood is pushing back so you don't get crushed under the weight. Now if you're in outer space your blood keeps pushing, but there is NO air! So your blood would let you "explode". And anyway, I think you earlyer die of sufication than from freezing.

For the very short moment until you would die. You would still be able to hear. The question is… is there something to hear? Maybe you could hear you heart beating because the sound waves would be transmited trough your body.

Your hearing would work fine, but there would be nothing to pick up because sound is vibrations in the air.

Every time I watch a movie where something blows up in space and we hear it, I die a little inside.
