When I adjust the angle of the screen it does this:

Does it do it everytime you adjust the screen? it sounds like a flaky video cable. the other thing is to try and lightly shake, or turn the laptop on it's side or back and see if the screen does it. that pic looks like it was taken facing the screen, if it had been a privacy, or anti-glare filter, the effect would have only been produced by looking at the screen from the side. |

True, it is rare for this to happen with laptops, as such cables are designed to flex with the lid opening and shutting. many of these cables are a thin flex cable that is loosely wrapped around the left hinge. but usually a loose or bad cable is the culprit. depending on how old the laptop is, or your inclination to disassemble the laptop a bit.(there are some step-by step- guides out there.)you might consider taking the machine to a shop |

when you tilt the screen certain angles and if the screen isn't good or is made for that colour changes or it dims to black ... remember those things that we putted in front of the old screens so other people cant see what your doing is kinda that ... |

as Robert said maybe its the cable inside that is bad or badly connected ... open your screen and attach the cable ... If you have bought it recently from the store just go with your laptop and give it for a fix |

Weird, this usually happens with external displays/projectors when the VGA cable gets screwed and never with any laptops I've seen and used. Either the screen shows up or it doesn't, as far as I know. As to why it happens, as Daz has mentioned, the ribbon cable connecting from the motherboard to the monitor must have been slightly damaged or loose. |

I think it could be a problem with the ribbon inside the screen. It could have come lose or be damaged.
