Hi,

I bought a power USB hub, it doesn't really work for high powered devices... infact its not even good enough for my mouse etc. and this is a POWERED one.

I'm looking into the PCI card ones, I know my motherboard has the larger and smaller slot free but I dont know the difference. (sorry i dont know the names of the slots)

Should I get one with the smaller or larger slot? keep in mind I want to run card readers, printers, wifi sticks etc. I'm also considering the usb 2.0 since I can have more ports even though they are slower. Hell, I might get one of each as the 8 ports on my motherboard are not enough and I get messages in Windoze about running out of USB bandwidth. (my soundcard is also USB)

You should buy the "small" PCI usb 3.0 card. The other larger one will probably be legacy PCI = Not fast enough for usb 3.0 (Good enought for 2.0, though).

How come the smaller one with less pins is faster?

If it's the port I think you mean, then it's because it does not send it's data parallell over the port. This prevents cross-talk and skew at high speeds.

Simply put: It's a newer standard :)
