With a full size keyboard, safari web browser and a whole load of apps from the app store, is an Apple iPad better than a computer? With the next ios coming out there is still way more things that you can do on an ipad that you can't do on a computer, for instance you can do a lot more and use the smallest amount of electric to power and charge the ipad.

All depends on the applications and ui you prefer. If you enjoy the touch screen ui and the simplicity of iOS, and iPad would work best. However, having some specifics missing from it, some people find the need of a Mac or PC, or both. Like many geeks though, having both is probably the best. ;)

There's no better computer platform. It is your choice... I think this question will be closed, because of the Terms of Use or something like that.

Depends on what your needs are. If all you are going to do is search the web and play games, the iPad would be great. But if you want more power, Mac/PC is the way to go.

For the average user that does a little surfing, mail, a document or two and maybe plan the family budget, then an iPad is an excellent choice. They would avoid the "hassle" of Windows, OSX, Linux etc as they simply wouldn't need it... I would bet your parents/grandparents could get by with just an iPad... I know a few people that have an iPad and a few computers, yet these days they use their computers only to update the IOS software every now and then and to back things up occasionally... When iOS5 arrives then they won't even have to update via the computer (after the first initial iOS5 update)

I couldn't get by on only my iPad as I use my iMac for my hobbies, Photography, photoshop, dreamweaver etc, but then again I am an geek...
However I can feel that I use my computers less and less now that I have an iPad! Instead of waking up my iMac or starting my Macbook pro when I need to find something out quickly, I grab my iPad instead...

For me, personally, it's not even close. I'd like to consider myself a 'power user' and I've had many computers over the years. The iPad just doesn't cut it. I mean, you can't even access the file system...

My needs would have to be several dozen times lower to make do with a basic tablet device. Not designed for a computer replacement for most users. The lack of flash does hurt it as well. Some people out there may only have such a device because it is easy to use and all they do is go to websites, e-mail, chatting, games etc...
