I have tested many brands and have concluded that Sony appears to be the best. When it comes to Sony, they have always rained supreme in terms of design, build quality and picture quality. This is also true with the Smart TV's I have tested.

I have heard many good opinions of people I know saying that they are quite satisfied with their television sets. Something about apps, accessing internet, and great screen quality. I would get Samsung , but only because I know more of their products in the television market. Hope this helps.

Samsung it's very nice becuase they have alots of apps but i saw that some tvs don't get all Smart TV functions and that sucks. I like LG Smart Tv to with the new Magic Motion controller but i saw that they are unresponsive, i will buy one in this Chirstmas hope they improve their Smart TV System because LG Cinema 3D is AWESOME!

Based on my own experience and research I felt Samsung was best followed by LG. Sony, has always been a good company with good products but at times can be overpriced and underwhelming at times too. I like Samsungs current designs with the "frameless" tv. They've got some great apps and last I check have started putting built in wifi in there systems too, where other companies charge you for the wifi card and ofcourse it's their branded card, so it's an additional expense if you aren't going to hardwire it.

Have you actually used all the smart tv systems available to actually give an unbiased opinion? ANd when I say used them, actually used them for more than 5 minutes. Several days I would say is the minimum before you can give an fair opinion of something.

I don't see how you can give a good argument for Samsung just because of the price... Sony, LG and others make tvs in the same price ranges as Samsung, so your argument for price is a little inconclusive imo

My opinion is this: I cannot comment as I am as of yet to have tried any of them out...

Hi there,

This recent report from Principled Technologies might help you make a decision. It favours Sony TV powered by the Intel Atom media processor above both Samsung and LG.

I would recommend the LG Infinia 42LV5500

  • Great clean and crisp picture
  • Great price
  • Energy efficient
  • Great remote.

The only downside is that there are not too many apps.

We bought a Samsung Smart TV last year. It's okay, it's 3D and stuff so a really good television. Plus the fact that it has outstanding HD quality. However, when it came to the "Smart" functionality we were a little unimpressed. We bought it because we wanted to watch catchup tv with services like iPlayer. We were told in the store that this TV would be great for it. We got it home and searched the app store and found no apps relating to TV catchup except for iPlayer. We then decided to use the in-built internet browser to go onto the catchup services and watch through there - apparently you can't do that either. My dad phoned Samsung and it was explained to him that you cannot watch catchup TV until there is dedicated applications to do so. They told him they were "working on other catchup applications" and they couldn't do anything until then. iPlayer works fine because there is an app but we cannot watch any other catchup TV until apps are released for them. I think this is something Samsung should have considered before selling the TV.

Talking about the best Smart TV system is a bit complex but all the same, I think Sony and Samsung Smart TV are somehow expensive compared to that of LG Smart TV. Even though LG's Smart TV system may not have as many apps compared to the others, I believe one of its strong points is the Magic Motion Control that has brought in simplicity for users in the Smart World.
