Hey guys, I have two fairly good p4's (DELL desktop computers) that I have to get rid of -as I'm going homeless by September and probably moving somewhere else- and so being a geek, I'd like to give this stuff a slightly longer life. In short, each motherboard supports up to 4x1GB DDR1 and the best machine has a 3.0GHz Hyper Threaded p4 with 2GB of ram. I also have some other components in the pentium IV range, and other random stuff.

If you're interested in an additional porn/video/music streaming server, hackintosh, (or whatever other creative use you'd have for them), and live around here - let me know.

It's FREE after all...

Well, I'm not selling anything, and rather trying to give some old computers to someone that has a use for them. For free... but nevermind. Might not have been the best approach anyway.

Based on the rules, it is considered as spamming. and another about hackintosh. So It is a close based on the book.

Nope, no screens actually. Just the tower/case. The faster machine is a mid tower with 2x 5 1/2 bays with two DVD burners, and the other one is a "slim" (not that slim) desktop (those that go under a monitor). Indeed they're a bit bulky, but not hard to carry by hand. Are you within underground range?

within underground range? i dont know, i live about 12 miles north of chelmsford, if you know were that is? and your just giving these away for free? with no cache?

I have to get rid of the machines. If it's 12 miles to the west it might not be too far... Google my nickname and add me on Facebook anyway. I'll get back to you later.

Actually, the hyper threaded has a megabyte of cache, and the single threaded has just 512KB

That's not a bad machine. It would support Windows 7 or Linux. I've seen a stripped version of Windows 7 on a Pentium 4 very successfully. The biggest issue is coming up with older drivers that work on Windows 7, but you can always replace the video card or sound card.

Indeed! I actually love these machines. Windows 7 and Ubuntu both run very decently, and none have any driver issue. The more powerful one has a Geforce FX 5200 with 128MB of ram that makes aero work just fine. So it's sad to throw them away recklessly.
