I may be getting a laptop later this year. Will it be able to get Windows 8? Also, How long do PC laptops last? 2-3 years? Please help?

Well will it be able to upgrade to Windows 8? Yes. Will you be able to get Windows 8 for free? I doubt it.

Windows laptops can last a good amount of time, but it depends on how well you take care of it, like any piece of hardware. It also can depend on the OEM as some are not as dependable as others... I'm looking at you Dell!

As Microsoft has said, any computer that can run Windows 7 now will be able to run Windows 8 when it comes out.

Probably. And the answer to your second question all depends on the OS running. Windows OS? Probably about 3 years. Linux OS? Probably about 10 years.

Anything that can run Vista/7 can run 8... I have 12GB of Ram, and a TB of space, so I know I'm safe :)
