When trying to set up a LAN network on my with my laptop, it wont register any DSL cables. I know it isn't the cables because they work on other computers. Is there any thing on the software side of things I can do that might fix the problem, before I get some idiot in comet to over charge me for something I could do my self?

Try some punctuation. I can't stand people who type like that.

What operating system you are using ? If you have a Windows PC, have you tried ipconfig from the command prompt?

Well on my computer, Windows won't recognize my Ethernet port because of missing drivers. So try going to the OEM's website and downloading and installing the driver for it.

And did the drivers fix the problem. If it did do an IP config to see what you are getting as an IP address from the modem or router itself. It has to come up with something when you do an IP config. I used to deal with tech support over the phone.
