How do you make your user profile an administrator, when you do not have access to the only administrator account? I never will have access to the admin account in my own situation. Don't guess and dont ask me, It's not happening. I completely cocked it up. Now im stuck. I cant back up a lot of my files because I have them locked to the admin account. I dont want to reformat because, not only will I loose a lot of my files, but I dont have the admin privilages to do so anyway. I can't reset my password either.

I want to simply make this account an administrator so then I can remove my main users password, back up files sort things out then reformat my drive like I've been wanting to for ages.

Dont have the windows 7 cd. It was one of my brother's spares. Now he has it and does not know where it is. I think that is out of the question now.

If your Default Admin account doesn't have an password you can acess cmd by task manager click file>new task and put this
"runas /user:administrator cmd" The when opened the cmd put "net user Administrator /active:yes" and then administrator account will apear on the logon.

The account in question is that account

(Jul 28 '11 at 13:56) PolishJamaican PolishJamaican's gravatar image

Plus, you cant do that without being an admin yourself even if it wasnt the account is question.

(Jul 28 '11 at 13:57) PolishJamaican PolishJamaican's gravatar image

would be much easier with Xp's back door ummmmm.... did you try safemode? that's alli can do right now... wait can you boot into linux using an ubuntu live disk? if you can you should be able to pull the files off right now i'm just guessing so

Try this too , Put your windows 7 cd in , boot it and at the bottom when you have to select Install click on repair computer, and go to System restore , and you probably find a recovery from a day that you had full acess click on that one and repair (ps: you don't lost any files)

i don't think you have any more options. if you can't run programms without the admin access , you cant get a recovery password program(whatever most of them don't work)

(Jul 28 '11 at 14:08) d4ni3e d4ni3e's gravatar image

I was thinking getting one of those programs you burn onto a CD then boot from the CD and load it, then use it to reset or remove the admin password or something.

(Jul 28 '11 at 14:13) PolishJamaican PolishJamaican's gravatar image

that will ask Admin premission.

(Jul 28 '11 at 14:17) d4ni3e d4ni3e's gravatar image

(Jul 28 '11 at 14:21) PolishJamaican PolishJamaican's gravatar image

I saw some ways to do it with linux, go google it.

(Jul 28 '11 at 14:21) d4ni3e d4ni3e's gravatar image

oi hate to say it but turn to utorrent its technically leagal in this case

(Jul 28 '11 at 14:49) pjob797 pjob797's gravatar image

utorrent has always been legal... Just what people use utorrent for is illegal...

(Jul 28 '11 at 15:03) JordanV JordanV's gravatar image

That's why he said it was illegal in this case.

showing 5 of 9 show all

I have used this product here http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/ It is a linux boot disk that will simply reset a password to null or enable user accounts.
