How to ask a question. First and foremost... When you put "How to...(whatever you're going to say)" it is a statement and not a question. You put a period at the end instead of a question mark. Starting a sentence with "How to..." implies that the reader is going to receive instructions on "how to... (do something)." Again, its a statement and not a question. You probably should try to remember that if you're going to ask a question, you start it with a)"How do I...?", b)"how do you...?" or c)"how would one...?".

It seems thqt everybody is putting forth questions beginning with "How to..." as if they are all in the No Child Left Behind program where nobody actually has to learn anything in order to graduate.

First of all, i would really encourage you to switch to a paid host, so that you can also have a real domain name. It helps a lot. I have my own tech blog (in french), and i have to say that switching to a paid host made my blog more popular, at least for Google. There are things that you can do to get search engines "interested" in your site, so that your pages are on top of the results lists for a particular topic in Google, Bing or whatever people use. The way the pages are designed (code-sided i mean), can also improve your audience. Also make sure you are on all the social websites, communities related to your subject that you can, so that people can find you everywhere on the internet. Look at the number of websites Chris is in for example! Don't think your audience is gonna take off suddenly, it doesn't happen, it takes a while for a website to grow up, and i would suggest you to begin with submitting your site to as many as search engines as you can, because obviously, at first, people will find you this way. It's the better way, I think, for a website to get known. Anyway, good luck! Hope I helped!
