So, how do you all feel about Alienware? I keep hearing about it everywhere in regards to gaming PC's. Some say they're really good for gaming, others say they are overpriced. For a desktop, I'd rather build my own computer, but what if I wanted a gaming laptop? |

i hear they are okay, however i have also heard the quality of the products they build has recently gone down. |

Alienware has gaming laptops as I am sure that you know. I do not have one personally I have an iMac. However an Alienware is a very good gaming computer. My friend has one and it can handle any game out as of right now. So if you are asking how we feel about Alienware I guess I would have to say that from what I have seen and heard I feel good about them. |

the problem with laptops is you're basically stuck with whatevers in them for the rest of your life, with the exception of a small ram/hard drive upgrade. when you buy a desktop, you can literally change anything you want in it to have it perform the way you want. like for example i bought an asus essentio desktop not too long ago, and i wanted it for gaming so i threw in a 600W PSU and a GTX 550 Ti & it runs beautifully. in the coming months, i plan to swap it into a different case, upgrade the ram from 8 to 16, and add some real nice cooling. the real good thing about desktops is you can basically add whatever you want at a given time, so i could literally start upgrading with those things, and have the desktop last me my entire life, just upgrading little things at a time. then with a laptop, you have no choice but to buy a whole new computer & transfer every inch of data once it becomes unusable. if you really need it, ill build it for you. its not that hard at all, honestly, and i love doing it. |

Alienwares a great gaming computes, but honestly cost way to much for what you get. try iBUYPOWER or CyberPowerPC. They sell affordable, powerful gaming rigs that also look great. |

Yes of course they are. They are the best gaming computers on the market, that's what they do. Sure they cost a lot but try not to smile when you see your friends' faces at a LAN ;) I have almost no experience with their gaming laptops though, but I must say their desktops are top notch. Even if you don't max it out they just seems to be more powerful than they really are. Maybe it's because of the cool lightning, maybe the water cooling and heavy tuning I don't know. But gaming on an Alienware computer is on every gamers 100 things to do before I die =) |

They used to be the absolute best. However, since being purchased by Dell, they are now essentially Alienware branded Dell XPS machines, so although they are very good, they are no longer the best. Dell has lowered their pricing on the Alienware machines and they are still competitive for the price point There are some better machines, that are pricier and ther are other machines that are nearly as good yet cheaper. In the end get what you can afford and are comfortable with. Alienware, Asus, MSI, Toshiba, iBuypower, Cyberpower are all good, I personally like Sager. http://www.sagernotebook.com/ |

You would be better off building your own gaming desktop. You can save yourself up to $2000 compared to the same parts in an Alienware system. You pay for the brand when it comes to them. I would never call a laptop a gaming laptop. It will only be able to game for a little while before you just have to get a new one. With a desktop, whether you build it yourself or not, you can upgrade every part. Plus, if a part goes bad you can replace it for a very decent price. I have seen a video card in a laptop go bad and cost close to $1000 just for that one part, while a similar specced desktop model cost roughly $50. |
