so, I bought my new macbook pro 2011 model and I love it! it was running windows 7 and mac osx snow leopard so smoothly... however when I installed mac osx lion, computer noticeably slowed down (apps load longer, fps on wow went down from 200 to about 70, videos fps drops sometimes) it even fails to start and freezes on apple logo sometimes. Any thoughts what can be reasons for this and what can I do do fix it? I contacted apple however they haven't replied to me.

it's been like this for a week already, when it failed first time, I left it 24 hours just in case it needed to load some stuff, was still frozen... it takes few reset/restarts to start up

Before i upgraded i uninstalled and removed the partition made by parallels just to make sure everything was fine. Then i reinstalled windows 7. Everything works for me, and my boot up time is actually faster (i timed). my wake up time is 3.6 secs

Worst come to worst you can wipe the drive and reinstall snowleopard and restore it from a point in timemachine (assuming you back it up to a external hard drive)

I have bootcamp not parallels, that may be different. I haven't backed up in timemachine so wiping would be worse than suicide for me

Yeah, you should keep up on your backups... External drives really arn't that much, especially for the size it needs.

I had some performance issues on my MacBook (Late 2008 aluminum unibody). I wiped the drive clean, reinstalled Lion fresh from a DVD, and reinstalled Windows 7 X64. It is now at it's peak performance, never seen it so fast. HOWEVER, in Lion running games took a hit, FPS in all of my games in OS X have dropped considerably. So I have simply moved all my games over to Windows 7 (Portal 2, HL2, F.E.A.R, Burnout Paradise, etc.) and the performance is much better in Windows than OS X has ever been.

But that's really a last resort response. I took some time aside to do it, restoring 400+ GB of data takes a lot of time over a USB 2.0 connection.

my macbook is under apple care, should I take it to apple store and tell them to reinstall software and restore all my files or should I request new one and ask for transfer? and is it covered btw ? (I just bought apple care without really knowing what it covers)

If you bring everyting including ur box and discs to an applestore and make an appointment then they should be able to help get you going again.

Just make sure they know its because of upgrading to lion and that you had bootcamp working on the last version of osx.
