Hi Guys, I understand that by unlocking your phone you can use it on any carrier, I have an old engineering sample Motorola Q9 that is locked to Vodafone UK. He says although it has a sticker on the back that says its not to be used as a phone, that he has tested it and it is fine for it to work on the live phone networks. My question is how do I unlock the phone without paying dodgy companies to unlock it for me?

might be different for Vodafone but for Orange I just phoned them up and they give you a code that unlocks it (and charge you around £20-£25 for the privilege!). I think you need the IMEI number but it was a while ago so can't remember exactly

Or you can just look for the unlock code online. Alot of people post unlock codes fir older phones.

These unlock codes are specific to your exact IMEI number.

The best way to do it is to contact Vodafone UK directly and have them provide you with an unlock code.

It looks like this service will unlock it for $15.
