Hey,

Recently I watched a video in which Adam (Seananners from Youtube) mentioned that his setup was a PC for the gaming and a Mac Pro for recording it all. I was wondering if I could do the same thing with an Dell Vostro 3700 laptop for the gaming and an early 2009 model 24 Inch iMac for the recording. I'm guessing Adam uses a special piece of hardware in his Mac Pro for this but could my iMac be capable to do the same thing?

If I can't do this with my iMac, is there a device that can record HDMI or VGA output (HDMI preferred)? Let's say for around €50 ($65~$75). I can stretch my budget to €100 ($130~$150) but I'd prefer the cheapest way (as long as it gives me the quality I want). Fraps works fine but it takes away a lot of system resources.

Since my laptop's screen resolution is 1600x900 (NVidia GT 330M graphics card) I am focusing on 720P (1280x720) just to make sure that I don't stretch the video. I might be able to record in 1080P since we have an HD tv but that would mean that I would have to split the cable (which could possibly take away quality).

Camtasia Studio is a good option.

That's exactly what I am trying to avoid. If my PC has to run the game and record on the same hardware it takes away a lot of power. By recording it externally you get rid of this problem. Plus Camtasia Studio is no where near as powerful as Fraps.

Maybe if you have the higher end graphics card configuration, bur I don't think thats possible. But I don't do a lot of that kind of stuff

There most certainly exist devices that can record the signals from an HDMI or DVI cable, I've seen them being used before. But I have no idea where you can them, you could try asking Seananners on utube for advice.

"But I have no idea where you can them" & "utube",

Please take care of your grammar. I know what you are saying but it's complicated to read. Plus Seananners get hundreds of messages per day which he doesn't read (or at least not all of them).
