Before the iPad came out, I hoped that it would run a specific version of OS X. I had no intent of buying the iPad when I figured out it ran iOS because I already own an iPod Touch. When my mom bought an iPad, i've seen it has its advantages, however, I still see it not to be worth buying. For many non-geeks, this may not be an issue. Maybe you already have an iPad, but would you be happy if it could run OS X and would you run it? |

"And/or iOS" doesn't really suit this question... It runs iOS anyway, so it would be better to say both of them or just OS X. Either way, I wouldn't really care if it ran OS X or not. I need the power of my iMac when it comes to OS X. |

I think it would but I wouldn't want it. The iPad is a great device on both software and hardware. It was made to work with each other not against each other. Mac OSX is focused computers which have more Ram (none of the iOS devices have more than 512MB of ram) and faster graphics (the second generation iPad has a change but none other iOS devices have in my opinion) and therefore can currently not even run properly on an iPad. Other company's may be claiming that there tablet is better than the iPad because it has faster hardware. This might be true (on the hardware part) but a tablet isn't a computer. Apple states that the iPad is a Post-PC product meaning that they don't want you to see a tablet as an even more portable laptop but as a completely new product. The reason why the iPad is such a success is because Apple has made the software and hardware to work with each other in a seamless way (aka no drivers needed, plus all the fan-boys buying it because Apple made it (guilty on the first generation but the second purchase was because it's perfect for what I need)). Point being, if you try to run something on a device that it wasn't intended for it will not run the way it should. |
